Generic Megace ES

What Is the Difference Between Regular Megace and Megace ES?

Megace ES is an extra-strength version of regular Megace. This means there is more of the active drug (megestrol) in each mL of Megace ES than in each mL of regular Megace. More specifically, Megace ES contains 125 mg of megestrol per mL, while regular Megace contains 40 mg of megestrol per mL. As a result, you can take less Megace ES to achieve the same effects as regular Megace.

Unlike Megace ES, regular Megace is available in generic form. Megace also comes in the form of a tablet. Brand-name Megace tablets are no longer available in the United States. However, generic Megace tablets are still available, and are made by several different generic manufacturers (see Generic Megace for more information).
