Megace ES Drug Interactions

Cyclosporine, dofetilide, and indinavir are some of the drugs that may cause interactions when combined with Megace ES. Some of these reactions may decrease the effectiveness of the drug or increase your risk for potentially serious side effects. Before starting treatment with Megace ES, make sure your healthcare provider is aware of all other medications, vitamins, and supplements you are taking.

Aminoglutethimide
Aminoglutethimide may decrease blood levels of Megace ES, possibly making it less effective. Your healthcare provider may need to monitor you more closely if you take these medicines together to make sure Megace ES is working for you.
 
Cyclosporine
Megace ES may increase the level of cyclosporine in your blood, potentially increasing your risk for cyclosporine side effects. Your healthcare provider may choose to monitor you more closely, and may give you a lower cyclosporine dose, if you take these medications together.
 
Dofetilide
Megace ES can increase the level of dofetilide in your body, which could increase the chance of developing potentially serious dofetilide side effects. The manufacturer of dofetilide recommends these medicines not be used together.
