Yellow Fever- The Virus
Not surprisingly, the virus that causes yellow fever is called the yellow fever virus. This virus is found in certain parts of Africa and South America. Although yellow fever is a potentially serious disease, it is not contagious (it is not passed directly from humans to other humans). The yellow fever virus is transmitted through the bite of an infected mosquito.
Not everyone who has been infected will develop symptoms. When they do occur, mild symptoms may include:
