Everyone taking the medication is given the same Zovirax ointment dosage, regardless of their age, weight, or other medical conditions. A sufficient amount should be used to cover all lesions. The recommended dose of Zovirax ointment is a sufficient amount to cover all lesions, applied six times a day (about every three hours during the day) for seven days. Approximately a half-inch ribbon of Zovirax ointment squeezed from the tube should cover about four square inches of skin.
